Procyon-2 Arcade Board (Dual HDMI)
Second version of Procyon hardware and FPGA design
Single board FPGA based multimedia platform, can act as:
Stand-alone computer
Add-on complex controller
● Inside FPGA user has a “sandbox” surrounded by the IP modules supporting the memory, video and audio connectivity
● Sophisticated HOST uC provides the link to USB, SDHC and networking functions
● HOST uC simplifies the DFU
● Board has the high precision analog VCO and sync separator for HDMI genlock
● What existing MSX users can do with Procyon:
– Extend the memory to 4MBytes
– Do MSX1->MSX2+ upgrade “in situ”
– Add the modern USB KBD/MSE/Joystick, MIDI, Synth, HDMI output, SDHC disk
What is different from Procyon 1st generation?
Removed obsolete PS/2 and SD-CARD support
Added dedicated ARM Cortex M4 microcontroller for USB/MIDI/SDHC interfacing
USE CASE 1: Stand-Alone Computer
USE CASE 2: SMART MSX Controller
Procyon-2 System Architecture
Some highlights:
● Xilinx Spartan6 FPGA
● 64 MBytes of SDR SDRAM @133 MHz and high performance soft IP controller
● 2x HDMI ports and soft IP controllers
● 16 MBytes of SPI FLASH with fast DMA controller
● AC97 audio codec with the soft IP filter block and DMA serializer/de-serializer
● Sophisticated and flexible external bus interface (5V tolerant)
● Large space for the target application related IPs
Smart Controller Mode: Bus Sniffing
How come ti's possible to extract RGB without connecting the RGB output?
This is possible thanks to the innovative technology of the MSX bus sniffing/snooping
